Our restaurant is located within the grounds of Mount Hiei’s Enryakuji Temple, the headquarters of the Tendai sect of Japanese Buddhism. Here you can both experience the views of Lake Biwa, as well as enjoy our cuisine which puts an emphasis on the usage of locally sourced ingredients. We also carry a wide variety of popular souvenirs such as Mount Hiei homa tofu, and recently reopened after renovation in the spring of 2019.

Founded 150 years ago, this specialty shop uses time-honored methods, wild Lake Biwa nigorobuna (round crucian carp), and Omi rice to create our funazushi and tsudani dishes with fish from Lake Biwa.

Founded in 1867, Tozaburohimo’s business focuses mainly on the production of decorative strings for holding kimono belts in place by using techniques that have been passed down through family. Please feel free to come and touch subtly woven cords made with natural plant dyes.
