Restaurant Matsukiya

Since the early Meiji era, Matsukiya has been spreading the name “Omi gyu” (Omi beef) around the country. The main restaurant is located in Ishiyama on the bank of the Seta River in Shiga Prefecture. The restaurant is currently run by fourth generation owner Nishii Motoharu, who manages the main Ishiyama location and another location in Kyoto.
Located on the first floor are the meat sellers. The steak counter is located on the second floor, where you can sit and watch as the chef carefully prepares the steak right before your eyes, topping it with Matsukiya’s house-made awajio (bubble salt). Private rooms are located on the third floor, where you can enjoy sukiyaki, shabushabu, and steak tenderloin.
Matsukiya Gozen is a famous lunch specialty. Omi beef is used in everything from the appetizer to the main steak dish, and only 20 serving are available per day.
