Omi Beef Specialty Restaurant Matsukiya (Main Branch)
A long-established butcher shop–run restaurant from “Matsukiya,” known for spreading the name “Omi gyu” (Omi beef) nationwide since the early Meiji era. Located in Ishiyama along the Seta River in Shiga Prefecture, the restaurant is currently run by fourth-generation owner “Nishii Motoharu,” who operates two locations: the main branch and a hamburger steak specialty restaurant. A special menu, “Hideyoshi Hidenaga Sengoku Gozen,” spotlights Hidenaga—the protagonist of the Taiga drama “Toyotomi Brothers”—and his older brother Hideyoshi, featuring ingredients tied to the people and culture of the Sengoku period they lived through. Enjoy Matsukiya’s signature Omi beef dishes along with these historical stories.
