Jinushi Shrine
Highlights & Introduction
Jinushi Shrine is where the local Shinto deity of Katsuragawa, Shikobuchi Daimyoujin is enshrined.
The worship hall, offerings hall, and main shrine are all three lined up in a row on the west side of the shrine. The main shrine was constructed in the 2nd year of the Bunki era (1502), according to a copy of the ridgepole plaque. It is home to Shiga prefecture’s only Kasuga-style main shrine building, which has beautiful kaeru-mata carvings on its front and sides. The main shrine and offering hall are recognized as important cultural properties of Japan.
