Highlights & Introduction

A shrine with ties to the Honda clan, which produced several of the feudal lords of the Zeze Domain, it was built in 1883 by former Zeze Domain clansmen and other volunteers. The four deities enshrined here are Honda Tadatoshi, Tadatsugu, Yasutoshi, and Toshitsugu, who are revered as the ancestors who rejuvenated the Honda clan’s dynasty. Of the four, Yasutoshi and Toshitsugu would be the ones who served as feudal lords of the Zeze Domain. The shrine’s crest is the same as the Honda family’s crest, a hollyhock flower, and the shrine grounds stand on the former site of the Kawaragahama Palace, which operated as a villa for the lords of the Zeze Domain in the early Edo period.
