Ohta Sake Brewery
With Ohta Dohkan (太田道灌), one of the original builders of Edo Castle, as a remote ancestor, the Ohta family initially moved to Omi (modern-day Shiga) under orders from the Edo period’s third shogun to “protect the sea route.”
Later taking up sake brewing, the Ohta family named its main product “Dohkan” in commemoration of their ancestor, and have continued honing their craft over time to this day.
