Ishiyama-dera Temple

Japanese literary figures throughout history have been fascinated with this temple, which is famed for being the place where Murasaki Shikibu planned out the Tale of Genji. The wollastonite, a calcium inosilicate mineral supporting the main hall, is a natural monument and a spiritual site. The autumn moon at Ishiyama is one of the eight great sights of Omi.
In the fall, the temple lights up the autumn leaves on 2,000 brilliantly colorful trees so you can enjoy a magically beautiful nighttime view.
