Mii-dera Temple (formally Onjo-ji Temple)

Mii-dera is the setting for legends from Japanese history. Much culture also resides here. You can take in a panoramic view of the city of Otsu from the Kannon-do hall. The temple is a well-known spot for viewing cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. It has also been a filming location for movies. The evening bell of Mii-dera is one of the eight great sights of Omi.As the head temple of the Tendai Jimon sect, Mii-dera holds a wealth of historical heritage, including the Golden Hall, a national treasure.
